How I wore it:: Navy, Stripes & Coral

Excuse my blog absence these last 2 weeks, but we had our first set of visitors to Abu Dhabi since we moved here in November.  Bo's dad and his wife came to stay for 10 days and it was so lovely to have some familiar faces here and of course spend some quality time with my soon-to-be in laws.  I'll post more on this later.  It did however, mean that we fell behind a bit on wedding planning and I stepped back from blogging for the week (of course).  But they left on Monday morning so now I can go back to working in my lounge wear and eating nutella from the jar.  Did I say that out loud?!! Bus-ted.
We had to do the border run to Oman for my visa a couple of weeks ago.  We've only just crossed the border (so far) but from what we've seen and heard of Oman,  its a very naturally beautiful country and I can't wait to visit properly.  The weather is really starting to heat up now, but I always like to be careful when we're crossing borders as you can never be too sure of the rules.  I always lean towards conservative, which isn't always easy when its 30+ degrees outside and you have celtic blood!
In this instance I went for a navy striped basic, and some shorts (which i later changed into once we were back on our side).  Navy is such a classic colour.  I love that it can be just as formal and sharp as black, without being as harsh.  It was always my choice at school over black when it came to uniform pinafores.  I just felt it had a softer appeal.  You can never really go wrong with navy and white either:  It's so country club safe and the nautical look is forever revolving.  Since neither of those looks in their entirety are really my natural style, I decided to 'pick and mix'  by adding a belt and some nail polish in one of my favourite summer shades, coral, just to break up the white and add some 'pop'.  I layered on my usual gold accs too, including my new cuter-than-cute starfish ring that I adore.
